ExpoMetro gives artists from all over the world a platform on massive billboards in well-known cities. For this edition, the city was Rome. We were commissioned to document the entire event in photos and video, focusing especially on the moment when the artists see their own work displayed on a grand scale in the city for the first time.
The Challenge
Connection between the artists
The billboards are impressive, but the real story lies in the reactions they sparked. In the mornings and evenings, we captured how the artists saw their work displayed on the street for the first time and how they connected with one another. That connection between the artists, far from home, was at the heart of this documentary.
While the photos freeze the moment in time, the video brings the atmosphere to life: the sounds of the city, the movement of the people, the scale of the billboards. Edou captured the dynamic aspect, so that in addition to the photo series, a film was also created that brings the entire event to life.
